Loosely connected themes of psychopathic clowns, Faygo soda, and the importance of friendship were enough for thousands of die-hard fans to don clown make up and proclaim themselves "juggalos," part of a community of Insane Clown Posse superfans drawn to their lowest-common-denominator humor and shock-factor rhymes. The duo toured extensively throughout the States in the early 2000s, developing a small cult following throughout the Midwest in particular.Part rap group, part societal phenomenon, Insane Clown Posse amassed an unlikely cult around their cartoonish and critically loathed horrorcore rap styles. The Green Book hit the shelves in 2003 with Man's Myth, Vol. Twiztid's second album, Freek Show, was released on Halloween 2000 in conjunction with ICP's Bizzar/Bizaar sets Mirror Mirror followed two years later. Jamie Madrox and the Monoxide Child cast themselves as psychotic axe murderers on their 1998 debut album, Mostasteless, which was reissued with new artwork and extra tracks a year later in the wake of ICP's rise to national notoriety. Protégés of the Insane Clown Posse, the Detroit-area Caucasian rap duo Twiztid based their act on a similarly theatrical, outrageous, makeup-heavy image and an obsession with serial-killer horror films.
Since their 1998 debut, the group has gone on to become the most popular group on the record label just under Insane Clown Posse themselves, and has a loyal following of juggalos of their own. The group consists of Jamie Madrox and Monoxide Child. They are currently signed to Psychopathic Records. Twiztid is a hardcore hip hop/horrorcore rap group from Eastpointe, Michigan, formed in 1997.
